The Games in Schools course is an online course consisting of six modules focusing on the use of computer games in schools. The course covers the following topics: "Why use Computer Games", "Using Games for Thematic Learning", "Learning Games", "What can we Learn from Games", "Designing Games", and "Why is it important to teach about Games". The course features video presentations from the experienced educator and headteacher Ollie Bray. It also features activities where participants have to discuss and share ideas, resources and problems. The final output of the course is the production of a lesson plan to be used as a teaching aid in the classroom.
My thoughts
beforeTo be completely honest, I don't expect much. Thinking of gaming and how much I enjoy some games, but don't't expect I'll be able to learn much, and use any of it even less.
So why am I here? NO IDEA! It sounds interesting. Why not try it?! |
duringThis course is proving to be great resource well! Can't say there's much interaction and collaboration, but it's fun to try out games and think of ways to sneak them into my classroom and my teaching.

afterI'm glad I took this course!!! Somewhere between M3 and M4 I got this idea, started working on it and when the task at the end of the course was to create a Lesson with Learning Design (I didn't expect that), it shaped itself into use of quite a few apps and games in my classroom. In fact, inside the classroom and outside in the school yard, but never-the-less still part of my teaching process and fun for everyone! YEY!!!!
I HIGHLY RECOMEND THIS COURSE! |
